Homemade beautiful clock

This gift is a perfect housewarming present or a beautiful gift for your roommates, mom, sister, or grandparents. This craft takes about 30minutes and is under $25-30 depending on the type of clock kit you purchase. The clock kit is available at any local craft store... if you have no such luck you can order one online!

Supplies..
  • Clock Kit
  • Fancy Paper
  • Medium Decoupage
  • Buttons
  • Strong Glue
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Paint (any color you want for your project)
  • Clear Acrylic Spray
  • Ruler
  • Cutting Mat
  • Scissors
  • Foam Brush
  • Pen
  • Paint Brush
Step 1.) Cut about 8-10 strips from different paper. The strips should be wider on one end that the other. They should not all be the same size or shape. The ends of the paper should be hanging over the edge of the clock face, adjust paper size as needed.

Step 2.) Working in small sections using a foam brush, coat the clock face with a generous layer of decoupage medium and stick on the paper strips. Smooth as you go. (HINT: make sure there is plenty of paper hanging off all edges) Let it dry.

Step 3.)Once dry flip the clock over and secure the ends with glue or tape.

Step 4.) Coat another generous layer of decoupage on front of clock. Let Dry.

Step 5.) The easiest way to figure out the proper placement for the clock numbers is to use a paper plate. A small paper plate should fit perfectly on the clock face.Draw lines evenly spaced around the back of the paper plate, using a pen and ruler, until you have spots marked for all 12 numbers.Make sure they are evenly spaced!

Step 6.) Place the paper plate on your clock face making sure the lines are all going in the right direction. Use a strong glue to attach the buttons,to represent each number. Let the glue dry before you move the clock.

Step 7.) Optional: you can paint the clock hands to match your clock, not necessary but a nice finishing touch.

Step 8.) Lastly attach the hands to your clock, using the directions for your clock kit!

Easy Wine Charms

I was at my girlfriend Marisa's and noticed her adorable wine charms on all her wine glasses and was very surprised she has made them herself. With a few easy steps you will have an array of wine charms for a present or for yourself!

1.) First and foremost you need supplies!! Go to your local craft store, Michaels, JoAnns, any fabric store and pick up from open ended rings or swirly metal design pieces. You will also need beads or charms, depending on what style charm you are trying to create. I personally like beads and a special charm representing the person your making a gift for, whether it be their initials or even something they enjoy like a wine bottle charm.
2.) String the beads or charms onto the ring.
3.) Place the ring around the stem of a wine glass and close the ring as best as you can by simply squeezing the metal.

This gift is simple and easy and will cost you less than $5.00 for a set of 12 and if your really feeling generous buy a wine glass at the Dollar Store and you will have yourself a rockin and thoughtful gift!

Butterscotch Cookies in a Jar

Yesterday while at my sorority I saw some of the girls making pre-made cookie jars for their little beta buds. I thought it was such a cute idea that is under $10.00 that will make a great gift for anyone or even make one for yourself and use it for decoration in your kitchen! Happy crafting!!

What you will Need

  • 1 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup high protein crisp rice and wheat cereal
  • 3/4 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

How to Create Your Jar

  1. Layer the ingredients in the order given in a one quart wide mouth canning jar. Firmly pack each ingredient in place. It will be a tight fit, but all ingredients will fit in the jar. Use pinking shears to cut an 8 or 9 inch circle from gingham, calico, or a seasonal fabric. Place the fabric over the wide mouth lid and rim and secure with a rubber band. Tie on a raffia or ribbon bow to cover the rubber band. Attach a card to the ribbon or raffia with the following mixing and baking directions:
  2. Empty jar of cookie mix into a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup of butter or margarine, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. Use hands to mix the wet and dry ingredients together. When completely blended, roll into large walnut sized balls. Place on unprepared cookie sheets and use the palm of your hand to flatten each cookie ball. Bake at 350 in a preheated oven for 8-10 minutes.

Cookie Dough Truffles

While visiting my grandmother over the summer I opened up the freezer to my delight. On a tray were 50+ cookie dough truffles waiting for me to devour. After eating about 5 in one sitting I began to think of what an amazing gift this would make so I thought I would pass this recipe along....

To make the amazing chocolate chip cookie dough....
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 and a little extra cup of flour
Pinch of fine sea salt
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

After you have made the cookie dough you will want to roll the dough into 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch balls and place them on a nonstick pan and freeze them for 24-48 hours.

To begin the dipping...
Melt 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chip and begin dipping and decorating! I personally enjoy sea salt on mine, but have the freedom to go crazy with sprinkles, white chocolate or any other ideas you might have.

All about presentation...
Use an old BUT CLEAN box and use some colorful tissue paper to liven it up. On the outside box I would recommend using a block color wrapping paper to make your white box go to WOW box.

Recipe is courteous to the FoodNetwork and my grandmother Mary Gosney!
